Great Friends, Great Times. Many thanks!

This year, I had gotten one of the best birthday surprises ever. No wait, make that two surprises. It was an unexpected glomp and I really am truly thankful for the love and support everyone had poured in to “Raise Me Up” eh heh.

The first surprise was the many contributions to the “Silvy’s Laptop Fund”. As you may know by now, I had listed the MSI Stealth Laptop (I had gotten Ghost instead though) on my Birthday Wishlist under the “Insane” category. Why “Insane”, you ask? Well, that wonderful piece of electronic cost more than RM5k! Derp.

So let’s rewind a bit and let me take you to the past…approximately 3 weeks ago during the Hari Raya week. There was an MSI Gaming Fair at LowYat Plaza throughout that week, and I wanted to go check it out. Partly out of curiousity, mainly because I wanted to see the laptop of my dreams there hahaha :P

Well finding the laptop that I wanted was easy enough, but the salesperson managed to convince us that the MSI Ghost was better (though slightly smaller screen) than the MSI Stealth laptop. Needless to say, what made me change my mind was the anti-glare feature on the Ghost laptop. Plus the graphic looks way sharper on Ghost than on Stealth! (I’m not too much of a tech expert so do forgive me for my odd ramblings).
Said salesperson told us that during this fair, all of these laptops will have great deals/offers/etc (well, kinda normal I guess?) and what caught our attention was the Limited Edition SteelSeries headset. It was pretty, and it’s RED in color. Need I say more?

Anyway to cut a long story short, The Boyfriend made a few calls and then told me that this will be my birthday gift from 11 wonderful friends (and family). Of course, it wasn’t fully funded for but it was good enough for me! But it was good enough that I could at least buy this laptop during the fair itself :)
So lo and behold, my beloved laptop that hasn’t been named yet :D It comes with a gaming mouse, laptop bag (and sleeve), and of course, the SteelSeries headset. As an additional bonus, we also managed to get a 1TB external hard drive for free (it’s a long story, how we got that lol).

My precioussssssss
That was on August 3, when we finally bundled up everything and brought it home.
Here’s a shout out to all of my friends (and family) who had chipped in to the “Silvy’s Laptop Fund”
My sister, Jeff, Raz, Naoko, Masako, James, Tunana, K1, Shana, Dimmie, and of course my boyfriend

On August 10, The Boyfriend suggested to attend AniManGaki 2014 which was held at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Center. I wasn’t too keen at first cause I don’t really feel like attending any conventions this year (I’m getting ooooooold) but then I thought, why not? I might as well drop by to pay a visit to my friends who will be there anyway.

I spent my morning helping friends out with their makeup (this I still enjoy doing even until now haha) and then I was whisked away for lunch. Of course, leave it to The Boyfriend to plan a surprise birthday lunch for me lol. Though I must admit that I did suspect something like this would be happening. Too many friends had asked me beforehand if I’ll be at Pyramid, what time is my Birthday Lunch etc. And I was like…what Birthday Lunch? ._.;

The many many friends who made my day special. Thanks for coming!

But anyway, I was really happy to meet my friends on the day itself. Many hugs, odd photos, interesting OTPs and of course, a somewhat disturbing conversation about BL-related dessert character designs were exchanged on the day. Thank you for being there :)

P/S: I was really happy to meet up with others too who weren't there for lunch! Thanks for the greetings and hugs as well. Truly appreciate it =]

The aftermath of Comic Fiesta & Cosplay Ball 2012

I haven't had the chance to post any updates on my Cosplay aftermath, but then again, I don't really feel like posting much updates on them! Hahahaha :P

***

Last year's Comic Fiesta 2012 was a blast for me, mainly because I got to hang out with my friends whom I rarely meet except during events (well what can I say, we are all staying too far apart!). The event itself was okay, though I didn't actively participate in any stage games/performances, I took my time browsing through the Doujin alley and found so many new inspiring amateur artists and craftsmaker out there! I feel so unproductive and small when I see the awesome works out there! D:

Anyway, since the hall was crowded (well, the crowd seems to grow every year!) I decided to take a breather and chilled out by the hallway outside with a few friends that I happened to meet along the way. Funny, I think I'm getting too old for this! D:

Instead of spamming loads of photos, I compiled camwhore-ing photos of me and my friends whom I did meet at the event instead! Sorry if your photo isn't in here, it just means that I didn't get a chance to see you, or I had forgotten to whip out my camera for this!

First row from left: Mugen, Zymz, DA
Second row from left: Rain, Dusty, Aoshi
Third row from left: Raz, Mogi, Gemsy
Fourth row from left: Ikki, Satoko, RRJ
Fifth row from left: Gyps, Carina, Narukids

Second row from left: Izzu (with Dusty photo bombing!), Cappy, Carina
Third row from left: Hani, Hito, Dimmie
Fourth row from left: Chia Yi, Liq, Jin

My cosplay for Comic Fiesta 2012

Day 1: Meiko from Vocaloid - Sandplay of the Singing Dragon

Day 2: Assassin Cross from Ragnarok Online

For those wondering what Comic Fiesta is all about, I strongly suggest that you visit their website and check out the awesome stuff that they plan every year! While you're at it, join their community and come chat with us in the #comicfiesta IRC chat channel (you need to be a registered forum user to check via this site; alternatively, try Mibbit or mIRC itself). We welcome newcomers, and hey, no one bites (much)! :D

Facebook welcomes you to CosplayBall2012

Next event I attended was the Cosplay Ball 2012. It was my first time attending after knowing of this event for two years, and I was curious about this event. Since the theme for my table was Royal Diamonds, I decided to whip up a random Original Character design for this ball - an Asian version of Facebook. Initially I wanted to head there as Twitter, but unfortunately my color scheme fits Facebook more :(

Thanks to Jamie, who was willing enough to accompany me for this event too! She dressed up in a Victorian-ish outfit (her corset didn't come in time! *sadface*) and we headed there with RRJ (who dropped by for a quick makeover).

Fun fact: My headgear, "Facebook" Icon, and "Like" Icon was done in less than 6 hours before the event itself! The headgear was actually bought, but I added beads and made the "Facebook" icon drop which I attached to the headgear :)

Unfortunately, I found the event to be rather a bore for me, but I think it's because I don't know almost 80% of the people there, which made me feel somewhat isolated and old. Hahahaha ^^; I'm not much of a social butterfly so that's probably why as well.

Overall the event was okay, but I noticed that some parts of the itinerary became rather draggy after awhile, causing everyone who was not involved to wander around restlessly (outside was a hit somehow, since there was a mini photo booth by HermanPhotography and several other booths selling cosplay-related products). I myself wandered in and out of the hall more than once!

One big flaw that I feel the hotel management lacked was that the refreshments ran out really fast, and no one bothered refilling the jugs after that. No, not even water. I understand if the management does not want to refill the food or cordial/coffee/tea drinks but really, not even water? Especially when the drinks ran out in less than 2 hours :/

Me and Jamie, posing for the camera

We wanted to have an IRCfiesta photo, but there were still others who did not make it in this photo *sadface*

Managed to take photos as usual! Notice the amount of photo bombs I got? Hahahahaha

Even so! It was great to hang out with friends towards the end of 2012, and I thank everyone for dropping by to say hi or even glomp me during those three days! :D

Cheers and here's to a great 2013!

A Weekend To Remember

Had a birthday celebration with me and my pals last Saturday at *ahem* DIB Aloha Coffee @ Damansara Perdana. Cheryl and I both discussed where should we have our birthday dinner and eventually, this place was nailed down. To top it all off, Saturdays are also Karaoke Nights at DIB so it's a win-win situation for us all! =D

Though my birthday was on a Friday, it was a non-stop celebration moment for me from Friday right up to Sunday! Not to mention food-filled all the way.

To cut a long story short, I enjoyed my birthday on Friday (took a day off from work!) with Jamie at Pyramid, where we enjoyed tea for two at Delicious (using a Groupon voucher from Cheryl). My goodness, that was a sinful tea for the two of us! @____@;

Tea Time with Jamie at Delicious, Sunway Pyramid
Our cake selection: Sumptuous chocolate brownie filled with nuts, topped with rich vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup

Middle tier: buttery scones, savory rosemary biscuits, dark truffles, and strawberries with clotted cream

Lower tier: Egg with Caviar sandwiches, Tuna sandwiches, Smoked salmon sandwiches, and beef tartlets (I think)
We could barely walk after this meal!

The next day...
It was a fun night of songs, laughter and good companionship with old friends and new. Though there were only 13 (I think?) of us there, we sure brought the house down with our insanity on the day! Hahahahaha

Rin, YK and Terence, all in different poses.

Erik looks rather sad as Nao photo-bombs with her usual attempt to "steal food"

Meet the other birthday girl of the night with her Aloha Chicken and an awesome cup of Iced Chocolate

Nao and Mogi, smiling happily together ^^

Here's Nao singing with Nicholas. She officiated the first song sung from our huge group of friends then haha

"It's a fish on a fish!!" says Jaslyn as she poses with her hefty plate of Fish 'n Chips

While others are seriously pondering on songs selection, Nao decides to provide horns for Mogi

Mogi sang after he found a song he could sing to! =D

It was such a fun-packed night from 7pm right up to 12am! Everyone took turns singing, eating, and all-in-all had fun chatting! The environment in the cafe was comfortable and everyone was like old friends in there! It was a really nice feeling when Nicholas (the guitarist/singer) started singing Happy Birthday THREE TIMES with everyone else in the cafe to me and Cheryl. Kinda awkward (I always feel awkward when the song is directed to me lol) but touching all the same ^_^

Group photo! Thanks for coming everyone!
In the photo: YK, Rin, Terence, Jaslyn, Nao, Jared, Chris, Mogi, Erik, birthday girls me and Cheryl.
Not in photo: David, Darren, Joyce & David :(

Birthday girls together! =D
The very next day, I had another dose of 'food coma' as my family brought me to have dimsum at Sime Darby Convention Centre. It was buffet, of course, so typically, we wolfed down as much as we could! Hahahaha. Well it helped that the food was divine! Then again, I'm pretty easy to please lol.

That very night, I ended up at Puchong with Cheryl, Erik, David, Darren and Andika for a Thai BBQ Buffet. Another round of food insanity! I was ecstatically taking marinated lamb and smoked duck all the way cause they were just too good to be true!

*******

And now, presents time! Thank you so much everyone for your wonderful presents!

Really lovely chocolates from Chris and Erik

Red clincher and two Whoopie-Pie lip balms from Rin, YK and Terence.
Now how did you know I was looking for a red clincher :P

A 'drum' lamp from the DIB owner himself, Allen. Thanks for this gift :D

Sushi maker (on top) from Joyce & David
Jewelry craft kit set from Cheryl and David :D

An awesome Thai BBQ Buffet the very next day from Darren :D

Getting my hair done. A gift from Hayashi and Jamie ^____^

And last but not least, a L'oreal Makeup Pouch from the hair saloon when the lady found out that I was there for a birthday treat :D

Thank you so very much everyone, for making the birthday weekend a blast for me! I have more photos to share, but I don't think it's nice to spam it all here ^_^;

Sweet and Savoury - Getaway with Friends

It's fun meeting up with friends. They make you laugh, they make you cry, they'd even make you laugh UNTIL you cry (happened to me more than once too) For the last few weeks, I've been hanging out with the funniest gang of friends, in which one of them is the culprit of me laughing til my tears started leaking.

Since I love snapping photos of food (even if I'm not exactly great at it), here's a mix of photos of food AND friends! :D

First off is when a bunch of us headed to TheObrama Chocolate Lounge at Curve, a lot of hilarity ensued when *someone* started laughing hysterically for...I dunno, 15 minutes? That was somewhat scary somehow ;A;

The lovely Strawberries and Chocolate Dip. That marbled effect looks really good, eh? Pity the strawberries were extremely sour to eat on their own :(

The culprits of making me laugh so badly.

....aaaand the *mastermind* of this. Hahahahahahahha

See what happens when we're all high on chocolate?  Well, do you notice what's odd about this image?
Hint: It's something red :D

Just last Saturday, we had sushi at a Japanese (duh) restaurant called Omitsu Koshi. A little side story about this shop: they serve excellent salmon sushi that's reasonably cheap for the thickness of the fish per serving. This is also the very shop who got me addicted to salmon sashimi when previously, I never liked salmon!

Kevin with his awesome bowl of noodles!

Le awesome salmon sushi <3

I ordered 3 sets of salmon, 1 set of prawn, and 1 set of baby octopus. I still like their salmon in the end :D

Agedashi tofu to be shared by all.
I have a lot of photos to clear, so I should start working on them as I go I suppose :( Between work and getting my other side projects done, there's almost  no time to hang out frequently!

Well, it's nice to have friends to hang out with, especially after a stressful day at work! So I'm glad to have them to chill out with (and them being really concerned of my well-being from time to time. Thanks guys!) =D

Happy Birthday Sky!

Though I knew of this party for over a month back, I never gave it much of a thought cause I was 'not invited' (or rather, I was not officially invited lol) so I just smiled and said, "Hey, it's all right. I'm not sore or mad about it." Which is actually true; there are so many other ways to meet up with friends even if I was not in the party :) and yes, that includes the birthday girl as well LOL.

Anyway, I had to gate-crash the party anyway cause I needed to meet several people attending the party to deliver some goods to them. Plus, I had a gift made for Sky that I wanted to give her :)

Imagine my surprise (and amusement, cause you know, I tend to be amused pretty easily) when Sky hugged me and thanked me for attending; and then looked surprised and shocked when I told her I came uninvited in reality LOL. It was an amusing moment for me, but yeah, no hard feelings Sky =] I'm happy to be there all the same, party-crasher and all! Hahahahahaha.

Beaded ring using craft wire (cause that is my favorite material to use so far!) specially for Sky. I thought it looked like a green spider, and my sis said it looks like a butterfly. What do you see?

Met up with so many friends I have not seen in ages (for most of them, the last I met up with was back in December 2010 for Comic Fiesta) so it was a happy moment for me. Thanks for the memories, and thanks for the catching-ups. It was good gossiping/ranting/chatting idly with the people I've known for years =]

So I told myself, "Hey, I should have photos of me with my friends at least! Who knows when will I meet up with them next?". (Yes, I'm not much of a social go-er hahahaha) Therefore presenting My Friends and I. Individual camwhore shots, and random group shots =P

My friends and I
Peeps on the LEFT: Gypsy, Sky, Ikki, Cappy, Jun Jun, Gahleon, Gems, Evilmatter
Peeps on the RIGHT: Hisa, Izzu, Narukids, Usagi, Will, Sean, Dai, Reno

Damn I miss you guys so much. All the same, yay for meet ups! That definitely put a smile on my face for sure =]

When there's a camera, everyone wants to be in the photo!
